Project Description:
R.D. Brown Contractors, Inc. served as the general contractor for the new Byrd Elementary School in Graniteville, South Carolina. As the replacement for the historic Byrd Elementary School built in 1954, the complex enrolls over 500 students and supports nearly 100 staff and volunteers. The 90,000 SF facility includes classrooms, a large cafeteria, administrative offices, a library and two playground areas. Byrd Elementary School is also one of the largest capital projects Aiken County Public Schools has ever built for its students. The sitework included wet and dry utilities, 175 parking spaces, two playground areas and over 3 miles of on-site paving.
